Dungeon Designs – The Living Vault, part 2

Welcome back to Dungeon Designs and our discussion of “The Living Vault” – a dungeon which aims to feel more alive than any other in existence. Last time, we went over the basic stats for the Living Vault as a creature and an active participant in players’ dungeon crawl. This time, though, we’re going to be focusing more on the actual “dungeon” aspects of this concept.

And don’t worry – anatomical expertise is not required because I sure don’t have any.

Dungeon Designs – The Living Vault, part 1

Recently I’ve been brainstorming a new concept for a dungeon. Not for any particular reason – I just think it sounds cool. But I wanted to discuss it here to show off my method for making dungeons, which should be informative, entertaining, and/or horrifying.

That last option is primarily for people who have played in my games, who will presumably come away from this thinking “what the hell man, that’s how you came up with this nonsense?” To which I say… sometimes.

Other times I’m just sort of winging it.

Late Review – Lords of Darkness (2e)

Welcome to yet another very late review – today we’ll be looking at Lords of Darkness, a compilation set of undead-themed content introduced by Ed Greenwood. Some may recognize him as the original creator of the Forgotten Realms setting that now serves as D&D’s “default” world, while others probably just recognize his name from the absurd number of old D&D products that bear it.

Prolific doesn’t even begin to cut it.

However, that star-studded title can be a bit misleading… after all, Greenwood only “introduces” the book – an introduction that forms one of the book’s two real high points. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Report: Magic in Mourning – Spells, Items and More for the Mournland!

Welcome back! Today we have another DM’s Guild title, this time focused on Eberron!

Report: Magic in Mourning is a collection themed entirely around the Mournland of Eberron, a bleak and hopeless waste created from a once-prosperous nation. The collection includes several updated spells and items from 2nd Edition, along with brand new monster statblocks, Artificer Infusions, and environmental effects!

Eberron is a setting I didn’t have much engagement with until very recently. In fact, I’d previously disliked it! But once I got the chance to sit down with it and really pour over it, I’ve become quite attached. And here you have the results!

Converted content from 2nd Edition includes six updated spells from the Wizard’s Spell Compendium and seven updated magic items from the Encyclopedia Magica. New content includes five brand-new monster statblocks, four new Artificer Infusions, and a full suite of environmental effects including a secondary Mournland Mutations table and special Mournland-focused traits for manifest zones!

Click here to check out the collection on DM’s Guild. Just like the last, it’s PWYW so feel free to grab it up! If you like it, let me know by dropping me a comment or tossing a few coins in the DM’s Guild cup, and look out for the next release too!

Collection – Exotic Dragons (v1)

There are many types of dragons in the world. Chromatic, metallic, and more. In this collection, the lesser known and more mysterious types of dragons are explored. Dragons that can cause disease and illness with a touch, and others whose breath weapon expels lethal force that physically rends enemies apart. Huge dragons, terrifying dragons, strange dragons, more dragons than we can handle in fact!
